On Friday the focus will be on practical issues including posters addressing these issues. The theme will be “Sign language as L1 and L2 in the field of education”. This is of special interest to those working in the field of care for deaf people and in deaf education.
Prof. Gladys Tang will open this day with her keynote on The Linguistic Basis of Sign Bilingualism and Co-enrollment in Educating Deaf Children: A Hong Kong Case Study. Two very interesting papers will follow, see the programme for more details.
A special Q&A session will ensure optimal opportunity to ask questions directly to many of the experts present and to stimulate a lively debate between researchers and practitioners and other professionals in the field of Deaf Studies. The poster presentations [PDF file] will also provide the opportunity for further exchange.
